Christy Raines is a planner. She is also a wife to Chris, a mother to Hannah, Kelly, Lauren and Reed, a daughter, a sister, a friend and business owner. Resourceful, resilient and practical to a fault, she’s also quite funny. Her profession is her calling. If you have the chance to speak with her, you’ll truly feel this passion. She excels at seeing the big picture and prides herself on her capacity to provide clarity in conversations – when you leave a meeting with Christy, you clearly understand what was said and what is planned.
Raised in a supportive mid-western family with three siblings, she studied accounting at The University of Notre Dame and was indoctrinated early in her career at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Pursuing a passion to work directly with clients and at a high level of complexity and sophistication, she left accounting to work in finance and worked at Goldman Sachs in Private Wealth Management. After meeting her husband, an active-duty Air Force Officer, she followed her passion for personal finance, carving her path with establishing her own independent financial planning and investment management firm Azimuth Wealth Management, Inc., in 2009.
Christy is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner, an Accredited Investment Fiduciary® and holds the FINRA Series 7 and FINRA Series 66 designations. She also holds a Long-Term Care Partnership Certification; Life, Health and Variable Insurance Licenses and is an Investment Advisor Representative of Commonwealth Financial Network. Frequently cited as a leader in her field, Christy has been identified as a subject matter expert (SME) by the Certified Financial Planning Board of Standards, those selected to contribute to the development of exam questions for the CFP® certification examination.
Christy often summarizes herself through two life-affirming conversations, one about her dream of living in the mountains and second around a math equation which equaled 13 summers. She’d relish an opportunity to recount each conversation with you as a client.
When she’s not playing with her four kids in the mountains, on a mountain biking or cross-country skiing date with Chris, reading or meeting up with friends for a glass of wine, she is also active in her local community with her time and resources. She is a proud supporter of her alma mater, the University of Notre Dame and the Women’s Rowing Program where she was a Division 1 Varsity Athlete and Monogram winner.
